{Wedding} Our Music

 photo ourwedding_zps0d13643a.jpg

Music is a very big deal to me and Our Wedding Music is something that I had been thinking about for months and months before the big day. So much so, that it got to the point where I had visualized certain songs in certain moments so vividly that even if I went for a run in 30 degree heat and one of our wedding songs popped onto my iPod, I would break out in goosebumps all over me, just picturing that moment and that song on our big day -

So today's wedding list, is a compilation of all the songs we used on our wedding day. With each music video, I have included a few snippets of the song lyrics that are meaningful to Warr and I, except for the last song - because I couldn't decide which part I loved the most - so I just put the whole song in.

Never Let me Go - Florence and the Machine

Warren took me to watch Florence and the Machine last year in August for my birthday which was amazing and I have such good memories of dancing with him in the rain to this song. I absolutely love her music and it was so incredible and emotional to hear this song fill up the Michaelhouse chapel.

"And it's breaking over me,
A thousand miles down to the sea bed,

Found the place to rest my head.

Never let me go, never let me go.

Never let me go, never let me go"

Leaving the Chapel -

Just Say Yes - Snow Patrol

Warren I decided that we wanted the bridal party to leave the church first, followed by the congregation and lastly us. I cannot explain how nice it was to have those first few moments as husband and wife in the church together while we waited for the congregation to exit. It also gave the bridesmaids time to sort the flower girls out with the flowers they were going to throw and it was lovely for us to exit the church into a crowd of smiling people. I knew I wanted something vibey and up-beat for people to exit the church to - so this song it was!

"Just say yesJust say there's nothing holding you backIt's not a testNor a trick of the mind, only love

Just say yes'Cause I'm aching and I know you are tooFor the touchOf your warm skin as I breathe you in

I can feel your heart beat through my shirtThis was all I wanted, all I want"

Entering the Reception -

Hey Ho - The Lumineers

This song is just awesome and beautiful and it's so upbeat and happy that we wanted to include it. I especially love the lyrics "so show me family" - it reminds me of the whole point of weddings and marriage and that one day The Warr and I will be starting our own family. I can't wait.

" So show me family

All the blood that I will bleedI don't know where I belongI don't know where I went wrong But I can write a song
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheartI belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart"

Our First Dance -

She Sets Me Free - Tim Halperin

We did a lot of research for our first wedding dance song. A LOT. Eventually we settled on this one because of the beautiful lyrics, the easy dancing rhythm and the fact that it hasn't yet been overplayed as a wedding dance song. (The first time I heard it, was actually the first time i heard it - lol that sounds redundant - but i actually hadn't heard of it at all until I stumbled across it). Our actual wedding dance was also something else - (which we learnt in 1. 5 hours). Every time I hear this song - it makes me so happy!

"She wears cherry chapstick, a vintage denim jacket

She likes to shop at Target for everything she needs
She runs without an iPod, she works without her shoes on
And when I'm singing love songs, she's my melody
And she doesn't get embarrassed, I've never seen her cry
She whispers in my ear, she's gonna love me 'till I die

Freer than a raindrop, falling on the sidewalk
Flowing to the river, rushing to the sea
Freer than a black hawk, flying over treetops
My love for her will not stop"

Our Second Dance -

I Will Wait - Mumford and Sons

This was a close contendor for the first dance song - but the rhythm was a bit too fast for us to try and learn a dance in 90 minutes. It is such a meaningful song for Warren and I - so we asked our DJ to play it as our second song. (In fact, in the back of my mind, I think I will always actually consider this as our "actual" wedding song). The lyrics for this song are so apt for everything about our relationship -  everything that came before it and everything that came between it. One day maybe I'll blog about all that, Or maybe I won't. I just remember feeling very emotional when this song came on, dancing with my new husband with huge big tears of happiness and love streaming down my face.

What a wussy.

"And I came home
Like a stone
And I fell heavy into your arms
These days of darkness
Which we've known
Will blow away with this new sun

But I'll kneel down
Wait for now

And I'll kneel down
Know my ground

And I will wait,

I will wait for you
And I will wait,
I will wait for you

So break my step
And relent

You forgave and I won't forget

Know what we've seen

And him with less

Now in some way

Shake the excess

But I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you

So I'll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
That tethered mind free from the lies

But I'll kneel down
Wait for now
I'll kneel down
Know my ground

Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow

Cause I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you
And I will wait, I will wait for you"

Are you also crying round about now?
oh, just me then?
Oh ok.

For each of the people making speeches we also had a mini song-intro for them which was played as they walked up to the podium to begin their speech/toast -

My little Brother, Blake - Toasting to the new couple - Scatman's World.

{When we were much younger, Blake and I used to perform dance-shows
to our parents choreographed to this song.

Our shows were very expensive. We made good cash.

I kept most of it.

It's a long story.}

My Dad - Father of the Bride Speech - Celebrations

My Dad - always happy and full of celebration :)

Bloggs - Best Man Speech - My Life be Like

Bloggs - the chilled out Best Man.

Warren - Grooms Speech and thanks -  Muzik

"My music, my life, my heart, my soul
My music, my everything, I give my all

My wife, my daughter, my love, my dream

* * * *

She stays in line, she's smart, she's funny

She's crafty and cunning, in the game she's running

Her lips, her back, her waist, her thighs
Her face, her skin, her hair, her eyes
Her voice, her shape, her hips, her mind
Her love, her smile, her touch, her time"

Me - Thank you Speech - Strawberry Lips

"Excuse me for staring, your looks have me blinded,

you want to touch me, so don't try and fight it,

and kiss me...

I'd walk your sweet curves for days without water,

my drink is your lips don't you think you outta,

just kiss me...

Blond and ambitious you're dancing with wild boys,
melting the ice round my heart, girl, with your voice
Strawberry lips saying, Baby I want you,
Raising my fever tonight so why don't you
just kiss me, oh woh oh, kiss me..."
